Newcomers, refugees, asylum seekers, migrants: different names for people who are looking for a new home and sometimes found one in Brussels. We met some of them, but often do not know each other.
The week prior to World Refugee Day we organise several activities that take you into the world, experiences and culture of some of Brussels' newcomers. And above all: activities in which we enter into a dialogue with each other and get to know each other (better). What story do we carry with us? What brought us to Brussels? How do we experience the city? What did we bring with us?
"Film screenings are not just a way of bringing people together. The experience of watching films together, discussing them, discussing life and getting to know each other in a spontaneous environment can create a first spark, build a bridge between people with different horizons." - Cinemaximiliaan
Good news! After a long corona sleep, in which weeks for many often blended into weekends, we can finally celebrate the end of a working week together again! We will celebrate this for the first time on Friday 18 June with a film evening organised together with the non-profit organisation Cinemaximiliaan. Together we will watch some fascinating short films and afterwards we will talk (coronaproof) about the film, the emotions and/or questions it evoked in us.
We are looking forward to this evening and hope that you will join us in our search for new stories!
